While he is best known for his animal subjects, his practice also extends to more interpretive pieces - carved, constructed and distilled from wood into forms that explore balance, movement and underlying structure. Whether figurative or abstract, his sculptures are unified by a modern sensibility and a clear, disciplined approach to form.

Working primarily in wood, particularly birch plywood, Bill constructs his sculptures through a precise, layered process that allows form and rhythm to emerge gradually. He also works in bronze, stone and other materials when the subject demands it, but regardless of medium, his focus remains consistent: balance, structure and the underlying forces that govern movement. Influences from mathematics and physics sit quietly beneath the surface, informing proportion, tension and flow without ever overpowering the subject.

Before becoming a full-time sculptor, Bill spent many years working directly with animals and contributing to wildlife projects around the world. This first-hand experience continues to shape his practice, giving his sculptures an authenticity that goes beyond observation. His animals feel understood rather than interpreted - captured mid-motion, alert, poised, and alive.

Bill has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, including regular selection with the Society of Wildlife Artists at the Mall Galleries, as well as Wells Art Contemporary and exhibitions in Istanbul and Abu Dhabi. His work has been recognised with multiple awards, including the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year Art in 3D Award and the Art Prize at the International Festival of Falconry. His sculptures are held in respected private collections, including the Ömer Koç Collection in Istanbul.

Bill Prickett’s work is thoughtful, disciplined and quietly powerful – sculpture that rewards close looking and sustained attention, shaped by experience and refined through precision.

Artist Terms of Sale: This artist sets their own Terms & Conditions, which apply to any purchase.
