OCTOPUS (Limitierte Auflage von 12)

Ich habe schon immer die traditionellen Künste Japans bewundert, insbesondere die wunderschön stilisierten Kreaturen auf alten Holzschnitten und die elegant gefertigten Bronze-Okimono. Diese Kunstwerke schaffen es, das Wesen der Natur einzufangen, ohne sich zu sehr durch Realismus einschränken zu lassen.

Als ich diesen Kraken modellierte, wollte ich ihn daher so weit wie möglich aus der Erinnerung erschaffen – fast so, als würde ich eine Version eines Kraken kreieren, wie ich sie vor meinem geistigen Auge sehe, anstatt mich von spezifischen Details ablenken zu lassen. Aus diesem Grund handelt es sich nicht um eine bestimmte Art, sondern eher um eine stilisierte Version, so wie ich sie mir vorstelle.

Mir gefiel der Gedanke, den Kraken aus seiner natürlichen Umgebung zu nehmen und ihn auf unnatürliche Weise zu präsentieren. Der harte Stahlsockel in Würfelform steht im Kontrast zu der fast flüssigen, fließenden Natur des Kraken und erzeugt Spannung zwischen den beiden sehr unterschiedlichen Formen.
