ASCENSION (Unique)

Œuvre magistrale issue de la série Monolith de Nicola Beattie, cette sculpture puise directement son inspiration dans le paysage fortifié du Pembrokeshire, dont les châteaux, les ruines et l'architecture marquée par le temps sont intégrés à sa forme. Haute et ancrée au sol, la pièce fait écho à la présence physique des tours de pierre et des murailles défensives façonnées par des siècles de conflits et de résilience.

En son cœur se trouve un escalier sculpté, s'élevant progressivement à travers le corps de la sculpture vers une étroite ouverture au sommet. Cette ascension de l'obscurité vers la lumière devient une métaphore silencieuse de l'espoir – un long voyage vers le haut, à travers la lutte, le tumulte et l'incertitude, vers le refuge et la clarté. Les marches sont délibérées et intransigeantes, renforçant le sentiment de persévérance nécessaire pour atteindre le sommet.

La texture joue un rôle central. La partie inférieure est travaillée de manière agressive, évoquant la bataille, l'érosion et le poids de l'histoire. À mesure que la forme s'élève, la surface s'adoucit et s'éclaircit progressivement, reflétant le changement émotionnel du conflit vers le calme et la résolution.
