TRANSIENCE (Édition limitée à 9 exemplaires)

L’inspiration de Jonathan : J’ai eu l’idée de « Transience » alors que j’étais à Glyndebourne, dans le Sussex de l’Est. L’image m’est venue à l’esprit : un cerisier en fleurs, la beauté de cette floraison qui semble apparaître de manière si éphémère. L’association entre le « Sakura » japonais et l’histoire de « Madame Butterfly », un opéra que j’avais vu maintes fois alors que je travaillais pour l’English National Opera, a dû être élaborée plus tard. Les arbres constituant déjà une métaphore de la beauté et de la mortalité dans la culture japonaise, cela ne pouvait pas mieux s’accorder avec l’histoire de la geisha, Cio-Cio-San.
