Arina Gordienko
Figurative Realism | Sfumato Technique | Emotion & Presence
Arina Gordienko MA is a UK-based figurative painter whose work combines extraordinary technical skill with a deep sensitivity to the human spirit. Working in the tradition of the Renaissance masters, she uses the painstaking technique of sfumato - layering translucent tones over many months - to create paintings of remarkable subtlety, atmosphere, and emotional depth.
Her portraits are striking not only for their realism, but for the way they seem to breathe. Each figure carries unspoken stories - expressions that reveal vulnerability, strength, and inner life. There is an honesty in her work that connects instantly, drawing you in with both its beauty and its emotional charge.
Arina has exhibited around the world, from the Saatchi Gallery in London and MEAM in Barcelona to museums and galleries across the USA, Europe, and beyond. Her paintings are held in important collections, including The Bennett Collection and The OSTEN Museum of Drawing, with five of her works even chosen for the Peregrine Lunar Lander project - a collection set to land on the Moon. Early in her career, her work caught the attention of legendary artist Gustav Metzger, who acquired a large canvas from her MA show in London.
Featured in international art magazines and books, Arina continues to build a reputation as one of the most accomplished realist painters working today. What makes her art unforgettable is not just the mastery of technique, but the humanity it reveals - paintings that resonate long after you’ve stepped away.
