Ben Rousseau
Design Sculpture | Light & Form | Innovation & Emotion
Born in New South Wales, Australia and raised in Colchester, England’s oldest recorded town, Ben Rousseau has spent over two decades shaping the future of design through light, precision, and imagination. Now based in Brighton, he leads a studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what functional art can be - where every object becomes an experience of drama, elegance, and control.
Trained in Product and Industrial Design, Ben’s practice bridges sculpture, lighting, and interior design - merging advanced engineering with a cinematic sense of wonder. Drawing from his lifelong fascination with science fiction and automotive design, his pieces explore the dialogue between technology and emotion, transforming materials like glass, aluminium, and acrylic into living works of illuminated form.
Collaboration lies at the core of his process. Working with engineers, film prop makers, and custom car builders, Ben fuses multiple disciplines into a single creative language defined by intelligent lighting, technical precision, and refined luxury. His works range from kinetic timepieces like Tempus to immersive installations and futuristic furniture - all conceived as sculptural statements for modern living.
His designs have appeared in settings as diverse as the V&A, the London Olympics, the Grand Palais in Paris, and Sweden’s Ice Hotel, with recognition from Elle Decoration, Darc, and IDFX as a designer to watch. His audience spans private collectors and global brands alike, drawn to his ability to blend craftsmanship with spectacle.
Every Ben Rousseau piece performs within a space - a fusion of innovation and emotion that turns light into story, and function into art.
