Chris Klein
Fine Art Painting | Hyper-Realism | Theatrical Costume & Salvage Studies
Chris Klein is internationally recognised for his hyper-realistic costume portraits - transforming garments from stage, film, and fashion into grand, emotive works of art. Each painting captures not just fabric, but character and memory - inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the craftsmanship behind the scenes.
With a background as Head Scenic Artist at Canada’s Stratford Festival and credits spanning Cirque du Soleil, Broadway, and the West End, Chris brings deep theatrical knowledge to his fine art. His paintings have honoured costumes from The Lion King, Queen’s iconic wardrobe, Dame Zandra Rhodes, and the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection at Kensington Palace, with his work exhibited widely across Europe and North America.
He’s been commissioned by private collectors and global names alike - including a bespoke painting for Disney’s The Lion King 20th Anniversary. Alongside his costume work, Chris has developed a striking body of paintings exploring industrial decay. His Salvage Yard series renders rusting machinery and weathered metal with the same reverence he brings to velvet and silk - revealing unexpected poetry in forgotten places.
Chris welcomes occasional commissions that speak to his interests - projects where character, history, and visual drama meet. If Disney trusted him to capture something special, you can too.
