Dominic Welch
Stone & Bronze Sculpture | Organic Form | Flow & Presence
Dominic Welch is a British sculptor known for fluid, abstract forms carved in stone and cast in bronze. He learned his craft hands-on through a decade assisting Peter Randall-Page RA, developing a direct, intuitive relationship with material that still anchors his practice today. He lives and works in Devon, where his sculpture garden and gallery at Ford Park offers space for larger works to breathe.
Working in Kilkenny limestone, Ancaster Weatherbed, Carrara marble and bronze, Dominic pares forms back to essentials: curves, incisions, tension, release. Seeds, pods, shells and marine rhythms often sit beneath the surface of his pieces, suggested rather than stated - objects that feel discovered more than designed, with a calm energy that invites touch and quiet attention.
His studio practice sits alongside regular exhibitions in the UK and internationally, with longstanding representation in London through David Messum Fine Art, and at home through Ford Park Sculpture Garden. Over the years his work has sold across the world, including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand, while both public and private commissions run in parallel with a steady output of limited editions in stone and bronze.
What distinguishes Dominic’s sculpture is its sense of living balance - the way weight becomes light, the way a line of shadow can make stone feel in motion. Each piece carries the natural world within it, distilled to an elegant, enduring presence.
