Jonny Ambrose MA
Automotive Sculpture | Speed & Design | Motion Captured
Jonny Ambrose creates sculptural homages to speed and design, distilling the poetry of motion into elegant, contemporary automotive forms. For more than three decades he has reimagined the lines and aerodynamics of legendary machines - from Mille Miglia racers to Le Mans icons - transforming them into artworks that feel both engineered and alive.
His practice is a meeting of tradition and technology. Jonny steam-bends hardwood into sweeping curves, then integrates polished metals, carbon fibre, and precision 3D-printed elements to express airflow and structure. Each piece begins with deep research - studying race heritage, geometry and design language - before he redraws those details into abstract, flowing shapes. Classic & Sports Car Magazine calls his work a celebration of “automotive artistry with graceful abstraction.”
Collectors and brands alike seek his vision. Jonny has created trophies for the Mille Miglia series with J.P. Morgan Private Banking, bespoke works for Porsche Motorsport, MG and Morgan, and sculptural commissions for global concours and launch events. His art has been exhibited from London to Paris, California to Stuttgart, and is coveted by private collectors across the Americas, Europe, Australia and beyond.
A former BAFTA-nominated videogames artist, Jonny has channelled that same drive for innovation into his contemporary works - from dynamic sculptures to striking wall pieces - constantly exploring new materials and methods to express speed and beauty. Each creation is a singular celebration of motion and craftsmanship: deeply personal, highly collectible, and built to endure as a future classic.
Please note that larger commissions have a 6-9 month lead time for competition.
