Mark Purllant
Mixed Media Sculpture | Movement & Control | Precision in Form
Mark Purllant is an artist whose work bridges sculpture, painting, and design innovation with a uniquely controlled yet flowing energy. His pieces - whether carved wood, mixed-media abstractions, or “oil painting in sculpture” installations - move between structure and spontaneity, always carrying a sense of dynamic tension and elegant poise.
Before focusing exclusively on fine art, Mark had a long career leading creative production studios, spanning furniture, interior design, and large-scale architectural work. That background gave him a deep fluency in material relationships, construction techniques, and inventive assemblage - skills that now underpin the seamless integration of wood, steel, resin, and paint in his freely flowing compositions.
Parallel to his art, Mark runs a judo club, and that martial discipline of balance, control, and precision resonates through his sculptural practice. His forms don’t simply hold together - they feel mastered, tuned, and choreographed, reflecting a dialogue between discipline and release.
His recent accolades include the London Biennale Sculpture Prize and the BADA Art Prize judged by Anish Kapoor. His work is widely collected, with commissions and acquisitions from the UK to Singapore, and from both private and public collections.
Each Mark Purllant sculpture is a dance of intent and impulse - carefully composed, boldly expressive, and always alive to the tension of materials and the quiet power of control.
