Pat Bull
Bronze Wildlife Sculpture | Nature & Movement | Moments Captured in Time
Pat Bull is a British sculptor whose beautifully crafted bronze wildlife sculptures capture the character, movement and fleeting moments of the natural world. Working from his studio on the Hampshire-Wiltshire border, surrounded by rolling countryside and the ancient Savernake Forest, he draws particular inspiration from birds, fascinated by their extraordinary variety of personalities, shapes and behaviour. His work brings these familiar creatures to life, capturing the subtle gestures and expressions that are so easily missed in nature.
Pat's journey into sculpture began with a Fine Art degree in Painting and Drawing at the University of Gloucestershire. He subsequently spent twelve years at Talos Art Foundry in Hampshire, developing an exceptional understanding of bronze casting, finishing and patination. Progressing from bronze technician to Chasing Workshop Supervisor, he mastered the specialist skills involved in transforming a sculptor's original vision into a finished bronze. That experience now forms the foundation of his own artistic practice, giving him complete involvement in every stage of creation.
Working primarily through the traditional lost-wax casting process, Pat produces limited-edition sculptures in foundry bronze and bronze resin. Each piece is individually hand-finished, with carefully developed patinas bringing depth, colour and character to the finished work. His sculptures capture birds in moments of movement, stillness or interaction, reflecting years spent observing their behaviour and understanding what makes each species distinctive.
Pat's work has been exhibited extensively across the UK, including at Newby Hall, Doddington Hall, Delamore Arts, the Cotswold Sculpture Park and National Trust Avebury. He has also held a solo exhibition at King John's House in Romsey and was selected as a finalist for the 2026 Broadway Arts Open Exhibition.
Each Pat Bull sculpture reflects a genuine affection for wildlife and an exceptional understanding of his material. Through patience, observation and craftsmanship, he preserves those brief moments in nature that might otherwise pass unnoticed, giving them a lasting presence in bronze.
