Patrick Palmer
Figurative Painting | Female Form | Tonal, Subtle, Minimal
Patrick Palmer is known for his quietly arresting studies of the female form — working in oil, charcoal, graphite and red chalk. His pieces are rooted in life drawing but defined by restraint: subtle tonal shifts, softened lines, and the ability to leave just enough unsaid. Over time, his yellow series has become a trademark — a calm, recognisable thread that runs through much of his work.
After a career in publishing, Patrick trained at Heatherleys School of Art and studied under Michael Clark, whose influence continues to shape his approach to form and tonality. His focus remains on simplicity: allowing the eye to rest, the image to breathe, and the viewer’s mind to fill in the space between.
Now based in Windsor, Patrick paints full-time and runs life-drawing classes at the Windsor Arts Centre. He has exhibited in the UK and Hong Kong, been featured in multiple publications, and was invited to appear on Sky Portrait Artist of the Year in 2022.
