Piotr Gargas
Stone Sculpture | Classical Foundations | British-Based, Organic, Evolving
Now based in Oxfordshire, Piotr Gargas creates contemporary stone sculptures rooted in centuries-old techniques. Trained in classical stone carving in Poland, where he studied the great masters through replication and restoration, he spent over a decade working across Europe on historic buildings - refining the skill of sculptural reconstruction with near-forensic precision.
Since settling in Britain, Piotr has worked extensively on the restoration of Oxford’s colleges and churches. But it’s through this deep connection to place that his own artistic practice has grown. Inspired by the natural rhythm of the British landscape, he now combines traditional carving techniques with modern 3D imaging to produce works that feel both grounded and fluid.
Whether in marble, wood, or digitally modelled stone, his work reflects a quiet evolution - built on tradition, shaped by modern tools, and driven by a deep sensitivity to form and flow.
