Sy Wood is a sculptor who brings together 25 years of design experience with a deep respect for stone as an enduring medium. His practice is rooted in clarity, precision and legacy - creating works that carry the quiet authority of traditional craftsmanship shaped through a contemporary lens.
With a background in luxury superyacht design and a degree in Spatial Design and Designed Interiors from Chelsea School of Art, Sy approaches sculpture with a rare balance of technical fluency and creative intent. He works across Purbeck stone, Portland limestone, Carrara marble and alabaster, using both hand-carving traditions and modern CAD-based processes to develop forms that are purposeful, architectural and built to last.
His themes often reflect our relationship with time and place, drawing on ancient structures, design history and the symbolic weight of stone. Whether creating intimate maquettes or large-scale landscape works, Sy aims for permanence - sculptures conceived to settle into their environment and endure for generations.
As co-founder of Rempstone Studio alongside Scott Taylor (Master Mason & Sculptor), he works within the historic Purbeck region where stonecraft has flourished for nearly a thousand years. Together they combine traditional masonry knowledge with innovative tooling and design, producing bespoke sculpture, refined masonry and site-specific installations for discerning private and commercial clients.
