Toni Cogdell
Painting | Portraiture & Abstraction | Intuitive - Emotional - Layered
Toni Cogdell creates contemporary portraits that blur the boundary between inner world and outer experience. Working in acrylic, spray paint, collage and oil, her pieces are built in layers – emotionally charged surfaces that explore memory, identity and the quiet spaces we carry within.
Her figures don’t sit for the viewer – they emerge. Half-formed, half-revealed, Toni’s work is as much about what’s felt as what’s seen. Her process is intuitive and searching – a way of uncovering things lost, not yet understood, or simply waiting to be named.
Born in Bristol in 1979, Toni has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally. Her paintings feel at once raw and refined – intimate portraits that speak to the universal, holding space for reflection, vulnerability and the unseen narratives we all carry.
