Vince Edmunds is a British artist creating highly distinctive glass works that honour the visual legacy of classic automotive brands through craftsmanship, material richness and precision. Based in Uttoxeter, he reinterprets iconic emblems as refined, collectible pieces, bringing together heritage, engineering discipline and a deep respect for design.

Before establishing himself fully as an artist, Vince built his professional life in mechanical engineering, progressing to master’s level study. That background remains central to his work, where clarity, structure and exactness underpin every composition.

Working with glass, reverse painting and 24 carat gold leaf, Vince employs a traditional glue-chipping technique, where a specialist adhesive is applied to the glass surface and, as it cures, pulls away microscopic fragments to create a finely textured, light-reactive depth. This is a rarely practised traditional process, now used by very few artists in a fine art context, requiring exceptional control and precision to achieve its distinctive surface.

Automotive history runs deeply through his work, yet these are not simple reproductions. Each emblem is treated as a cultural artefact, layered with meaning, memory and identity. The interplay of glass, gold and surface detail gives the finished works a quiet sense of theatre, allowing familiar forms to take on a sculptural presence.

His work is exhibited within respected motoring and art circles, including Goodwood Revival, Goodwood Members’ Meeting and Salon Privè, and is held in private collections across the UK, Europe and the United States. Works are displayed at Silverstone Escapade, placing his practice firmly within serious automotive and collector environments.

Alongside his automotive works, Vince is beginning to explore more figurative subjects, most notably through his Marilyn piece. Created using the same meticulous glass and gilding process, the work introduces layered gold leaf and subtle crystal detailing, marking a natural expansion of his practice into more expressive territory.
