Our Story
I’m Jay Willson. After 35 years building and scaling commercial businesses for others, I decided it was time to build something of my own.
Following the end of a long-term marriage and a stress-related stroke, I stepped back to assess what I wanted my next chapter to look like. Leaving a senior corporate role gave me the clarity to focus on what mattered. Artisan Collective was the result of that shift in focus, a deliberate move to apply everything I’d learned and create something more considered, more direct and quietly disruptive.
What experience has taught me is simple. The best results come from bringing the right people together. That principle sits at the core of the Collective.
I come from four generations of artists, including my great uncle, Chas C Stadden, a world-renowned military artist and sculptor. My nan was an accomplished porcelain painter, and my mum, Sandy, now 77, still creates new work, takes on commissions, and introduces me to exceptional British and internationally based creators, many of whom are now part of the Collective. Their insight, along with the input of every artist involved, helped shape a network that reflects their needs. It also made clear how difficult it can be to be seen, and that’s something I’m here to change. The focus is on removing the noise and creating meaningful connections around exceptional work.
I’m not an art critic, dealer or consultant. What I bring is the ability to open doors, structure opportunities and deliver commercially. Artisan Collective is not built on art world validation, investment-led narratives, or follower counts. It exists to place exceptional work into real environments, directly and without noise. Paired with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and originality, that’s what I bring to the Collective.
The Collective supports both private and commercial projects, from individual acquisitions to large-scale commissions and licensing. We bring together outstanding independent British artists across disciplines, from painting and sculpture to neon, ceramics and beyond. It’s an invite-only Collective built on originality, skill and shared values. No middlemen, no inflated margins, just direct access and honest representation.
Alongside original works and limited editions, the Collective also includes The Print Room, a dedicated space for curated, artist-led editions. We exist to connect exceptional creators with the right opportunities, through the Collection, Print Room and commercial projects, working with collectors, designers, developers and partners in the UK and internationally who value craftsmanship, originality and quality. From studio visits and commissions to licensing and full project delivery, the focus is on placing the right work with the right people and building relationships that last.
With a sharp commercial instinct, we don’t wait for opportunities, we create them, opening new routes to market and helping raise the profile of British craftsmanship on the international stage.
Whether you’re here to collect, commission or simply discover, I invite you to explore the work and stories that set this Collective apart.
