Jemma Worsfold creates strikingly lifelike portraits of animals using nothing but coloured pencil - layer by layer, building depth, realism, and soul. Working from the east coast of the UK, her practice began during lockdown and quickly evolved from pet commissions into a refined body of wildlife work collected worldwide.
Every piece is drawn by hand on pastelmat board using Faber Castell and Derwent pencils. It’s a slow, focused medium - but one that allows Jemma to bring out the spirit and stillness of each subject. From big cats to amphibians, her drawings carry presence - as though the animal were right there in the room.
With collectors spanning five continents and work supporting conservation causes like Monkey World, Jemma’s art is driven by detail, empathy, and a desire to connect.
