Leszek Sikon
ARTISAN BLACKSMITH | FORGED STEEL | HERITAGE & PRECISION
Leszek Sikoń is an artisan blacksmith whose work honours the deep traditions of metal forging while bringing a refined contemporary sensibility to the craft. Originally from Poland and now based in the UK, his practice centres on the transformation of raw steel through heat, patience and skill - shaping blades and forged objects that celebrate both utility and beauty.
After leaving a corporate career in search of a more meaningful path, Leszek dedicated himself to the discipline of blacksmithing. He trained at Hereford College of Arts, one of the UK’s leading centres for traditional craft, where he developed a rigorous understanding of steel, form and the ancient techniques that underpin the forge. Today, his work focuses primarily on hand-forged knives and sculptural objects, each created through labour-intensive processes that demand precision, control and a deep respect for the material.
Every blade begins at the anvil. Steel is heated, hammered and shaped entirely by hand before being carefully refined, hardened and finished. Many pieces incorporate traditional pattern-welding techniques, producing distinctive layered steel surfaces where no two blades are ever identical. The result is work that feels both timeless and highly personal - tools designed not only to perform, but to endure.
Leszek’s craftsmanship has earned significant recognition within the British craft community. He is a QEST Scholar and a Crafts Council Hothouse alumnus, two programmes that champion the UK’s most promising makers. His work has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications including Crafts Magazine, Homes & Gardens and The Evening Standard.
Through discipline, heritage and an unwavering commitment to quality, Leszek Sikoń continues to keep the ancient language of the forge alive - shaping steel into objects that carry both purpose and permanence.
