ELLIPSIS (Original)
This painting is an absolute hoot! I mean, just look at it… where have you ever seen anything like this before? It’s a square painting that received a solid matt finished red colour background with a small circle of violet placed in the middle.
This formed the basis for the droplets of paint that form the main composition of the painting. These droplets were applied using my incredible battery-operated portable spin machine. It’s quite the contraption and was created solely to make these halo type paintings. And so far, this is my favourite.
You get so many different paint effects from a single operation – a spin. But much of that is down to the way in which paint is applied and how much of it is put on.
Add to that the rotational speed, the type of platform used and the duration of the spin and you get a whole myriad of variables that help to ensure that each painting is always uniquely different from the next.
