Cu-Ni-MASCUS NAKIRI (One-Off)

After practising pattern welding for many years I decided to push my skill and material knowledge by forging dissimilar materials into useful tools. It is so easy to mess up the copper billet, easily split, you need to keep the temperature just right so it won't overheat and not too low so you can actually forge it together.

To finish it off the handle was made from custom jeans micarta with copper and steel mesh. I’ve forged the blade as close to final dimensions as I could get it with S-profiles on the blades that will help with food release. All sharpen on whetstones for a great cutting experience.

Check out the closeups. It really shows all the different metal layers I've put together in this one.
