This tall, elegant sculpture in elm - mounted on an oak base - is carved in the form of a stone-age axe: a shape rooted in assertion and endurance. But within that form lies a subtle narrative of duality. The textured surface evokes turbulent terrain, a visual language of war and conflict; while the upper “visor” section, pierced with slender windows, offers the promise of light, of peace emerging above the tumult.

Visori belongs to Beattie’s Blade series - a collection that explores the tension between struggle and transcendence, between carved form and the trace of human passage. With its raw material, geological reference and refined finish, the piece becomes an emblem of resilience, hope and quiet contemplation.
