LOTHLÓRIEN (Limited Edition of 7)
Disaster struck Ely Cathedral in 1322, when its Norman central tower collapsed. Unable to rebuild on the same weak foundations, masons found firmer ground further out, leading to the creation of an octagonal tower crowned by a lantern. To prevent collapse, eight internal arches support a timber fan-vaulted roof - a complex wooden structure clad in 400 tons of lead.
This masterpiece of medieval engineering took 18 years to build and has stood for centuries. Today, the Octagon tower stands as a symbol of strength and resilience, reminding us that even in the face of challenges, it is possible to create something beautiful and enduring.”
