Boxing Hares
When a male hare is being too persistent with a female, he chases her across fields in an attempt to mate, and once she’s had enough, she’ll turn around and try to fend him off in a fierce boxing match!  Putting him to the test.  And surprisingly, female hares are larger than the male hares, and so guess who normally gets the final say?  We are all so fascinated about the life of a hare, and so its a total privilege when you spot them in the field, even for a split second.  In fact a joy.

In this bronze wildlife sculpture of  boxing hares, I wanted to create a dynamic tension between the two hares…and use the angles of the limbs to linter-link them both in a flowing way, capturing a moment in time.  Ears are always very expressive on animals particularly hares and so in this bronze wild life sculpture, do have a look at their ears and reflect on your own interpretation of these two hares fighting and playing with one another.  Often ears say what you can’t put into words.  I sculpted these bronze hares separately and then brought them together at the end to create a dynamic bronze sculpture which can be seen at any angle as it constantly changes, depending on where you look at it.
I have seen this bronze sculpture of the boxing hares, positioned in a hall way on a circular table so it can be seen from every angle, and it looked superb.  A great sight to see as you enter into a home.
