Bronze sculpture of a crouched male figure balanced on a square plinth, his body wrapped tightly around itself in a contemplative pose. The entire surface is patterned with vivid monarch butterflies in orange, black and soft yellow tones, creating a striking contrast against the subdued bronze of the skin. His expression is introspective and hesitant, poised between stillness and the potential for movement. Set against a dark background, the sculpture highlights themes of transformation and courage.

PAPILLON (Limited Edition of 9)

Jonathan’s inspiration: 'Papillon' was originally inspired by watching the movies of the same name. There are lots of meanings behind this one for me, but basically, I think he's contemplating what it would be like to put himself out there, to make that leap. I can easily associate myself with this piece, with the challenges I have met in life and it not always easy to make those initial steps. The potential for freedom was emphasised even more with the challenging array of monarch butterflies and their likelihood to fly.
