Glass Sculpture | Erosion & Form | Fragile Strength
Tracy Nicholls is a British glass artist whose work transforms solid forms into delicate, lace-like structures. Working predominantly with opaque glass in a restrained monochrome palette, she explores the beauty found in erosion – the gradual disintegration of matter over time - and the moment when strength yields to fragility.
Graduating with Distinction in an MA in Contemporary Craft - Glass from UCA Farnham, Tracy has developed a signature style defined by precision, simplicity, and the interplay of light, shape, and form. Each sculpture carries an architectural clarity, yet feels organic in its gradual unravelling, inviting contemplation on impermanence and endurance.
Since winning ‘Best in Show’ at the British Glass Biennale in 2008, Tracy’s work has been exhibited widely across the UK and Europe, including inclusion in the prestigious Coburg Glass Prize in Germany. Her sculptures are held in notable public and private collections, among them the National Museum of Scotland and the Marinha Grande Museum of Glass in Portugal.
From her Kingston, Surrey studio, Tracy continues to push the boundaries of glass as a sculptural medium - creating pieces that feel timeless, yet suspended in a moment of transformation.
