CHERUBIM (One-Off)

Carved in alabaster using the Carving Direct method, this sculpture was shaped by following the natural grain and form of the stone. What began as the vision of a man revealed itself as something greater - a tetramorph, the union of four beings in one. The man, eagle, ox, and lion emerged in perfect balance, echoing the ancient image of the Cherubim.

Rather than the soft, winged cherubs of Renaissance art, this work draws on older traditions where Cherubim were powerful guardians of the divine. Their four heads, later linked to the Gospel writers, embody strength, presence, and mystery. This sculpture reimagines those enduring symbols, giving timeless vision a contemporary form.
