Carved from elm, this tall, slender sculpture draws its form from a Stone Age axe - an ancient object reinterpreted as a quiet, contemplative presence. The elongated silhouette is calm and restrained, encouraging stillness despite the emotional weight embedded within the surface.

The lower section carries a darker, more textured finish, deliberately worked to evoke the turbulence and conflict that have shaped human history. In contrast, a small architectural opening near the top is framed by a lighter tone and gentler texture. Inspired by the windows and apertures found in the ruined castles surrounding the artist’s home, this detail becomes a symbolic threshold - a moment of clarity, light, and hope rising above unrest.

The dialogue between roughness and refinement is central to the work. While the surface records struggle and endurance, the overall form remains balanced and composed, inviting reflection rather than confrontation.
