NUDE EMERGENCE TORSO (Limited Edition of 12)

Created following work with life model Ella Rose, this bronze torso takes inspiration from the long history of representations of the female body, including surviving prehistoric fragments. Mackie worked the original in locally dug, coarse natural clay, using its resistant character to create an intentionally fragmented and tactile figure.

The small scale and weathered quality suggest an unearthed artefact rather than a conventional polished figure study. Its Ancaster Weatherbed stone plinth also connects the work to Mackie’s earlier River Bed sculpture.

Medium: Bronze with Ancaster Weatherbed stone plinth
Edition: Signed and dated 2020; numbered edition of 12
Dimensions: 32 L × 25 H × 16 W cm
