SYCAMORE SEED - 244cm (Bronze Limited Edition)
Sycamore Seed is inspired by the quiet theatre of sycamore seeds drifting to the ground - the familiar “helicopters” that spin effortlessly on air currents. What appears playful is also a refined act of natural engineering, with each slender wing shaped for travel, survival and renewal.
Rather than reproduce the seed literally, James Parker distils its essence into sculptural form: the elongated wing, subtle torsion and sense of suspended movement. The sculpture narrows and rises with quiet tension before resolving into a grounded base, translating fragility into enduring bronze.
Available from intimate palm-sized studies to monumental editions, Sycamore Seed is suited to interiors, private estates, garden landscapes and architectural settings. At eight feet high, the work becomes a confident vertical gesture - refined, contemporary and quietly powerful.
Smaller editions are created using the lost-wax process, while monumental works are produced through sand casting for structural integrity and outdoor longevity. Each sculpture is finished by hand, with close attention to surface, patination and the movement of light throughout the day.
The monumental Sycamore Seed was unveiled on Parker’s award-winning Main Avenue trade stand at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025. In garden, landscape or architectural settings, it stands as a contemporary bronze homage to nature’s ingenuity, resilience and grace.
Visualisations shown illustrate scale within landscaped settings.
