Carbon Reborn - The Texas Longhorn

Sculptor Alastair Gibson breathes new life into one of nature’s most iconic creatures with this bold fusion of heritage and engineering. Wrapped in autoclave-cured carbon fibre and overlaid with Texalium in the colours of the Lone Star flag, each Texas Longhorn skull becomes a tribute to the American frontier - reimagined through the lens of Formula 1 innovation. With original polished horns, titanium nose fittings from a Honda F1 car, and individually lacquered detail, no two are ever alike. This is tradition, reborn in carbon.

Carbon is the building block of life. All known animals on our planet are made up of carbon. This Alastair Gibson and Carbon Art 45 sculpture is produced by wrapping the original Texas Longhorn steer skull in carbon fibre - a symbolic gesture to bring this incredible animal ‘back to life’.

All original Texas Longhorn steer skulls are different, therefore each piece is unique.
  • Material: 4 ply / layers of 2 x 2 twill 200 gsm pre-preg carbon fibre material
  • State Flag: 2 ply / layers of Texalium pre-preg material with the Texas colours applied with tinted clear lacquer
  • Cure: Cured in an autoclave at 180° for 12 hours at 7 bar pressure, 101.5 psi
  • Teeth: Red and blue coated original teeth
  • Horns: Original horns polished and sealed
  • Nostrils: 2 Off -6 titanium fittings from the hydraulic system of the Honda F1 GP car
  • Coating: 3 coats of UV resistant Spies Hecker 2 part HS Speed clear coat
  • Mounting method: Wall mounted
